Catchy tune AND a good laugh?!

I just caught a repeat of Saturday Night Live (from Jan 2013), with guest host Adam Levine from Maroon 5. Andy Samberg took the opportunity to do a Digital Short with his Lonely Island group, Adam, and musical guest Kendrick Lamar.

What a great song! Catchy (too catchy – am still singing Levine’s chorus), and a funny poke at our fears as it looks at YOLO (You Only Live Once) from the other side. “There’s no such thing as too much Purel!” … “Be carefolo…”

Love it!

Some days we need a pep talk…

… even if we have already viewed it on YouTube before.

Kid President is a giant scoop of awesome, compressed into a small cone…  Ya, I don’t know what I mean either, but his videos are encouraging and inspiring and definitely ensmilering.  Ok, “ensmilering” is totally my new word.  Wish I’d thought of it when I created this blog.  Perhaps a subtitle?  Click of Joy — Mission: To ensmile the world!!!

Ya gotta love people who don’t take themselves too seriously.

These days, watching live TV is often painful, due to the increasing amount of ads. And these ads are generally either annoying, stupid, repetitive, or a combo. But every now and again there is one that really catches my eye – either with humour or sweetness – and it is SO refreshing.

I just saw an ad for the 2013 season of The Voice. I don’t watch the show, but I just so enjoyed the humour and camaraderie of the ad, which features the four judges, who are all popular singers (Blake Shelton, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Shakira & Usher).

PS. I am posting this using the app on my iPhone… so I apologize if it doesn’t work!

The joy and energy of this video never fails to move me

I first saw this video on Oprah — the start of her 24th season, I believe it says.  I have long been an Oprah fan and her shows have informed me, let me feel understood, given me ideas as to how to live a better life, and helped me to appreciate the life I have.  They’ve made me smile and laugh and cry.  This clip, however, gives me such joy and… I don’t know… lightness?  Oprah called the feeling “joy rising”, and I think that’s a pretty good description.

So here is a video to cheer myself up, and anyone else who ever looks here.  It’s the Black Eyed Peas singing the Oprah version of I Gotta Feeling, with a surprise flashmob.

PS. As an editor, the spelling of their song title really irritates me… but what can ya do.

In the beginning…

This afternoon I watched such an inspirational video that a friend had posted on Facebook — of a young girl performing poetry for a South African talent show — and thought, “I need to come back and watch this again… but how will I find it?”

Then I just watched another video, of Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake performing the abbreviated history of hip hop, and it had me smiling and dancing in my seat.  “I definitely need to see this again.”

And then it occurred to me: “I could put links in a blog and then I could watch it whenever I need a lift.”

So that’s what I’m doing.  I have never done a blog before… so bare with me.  Or bear with me.  I’m an editor — I should know the difference… but maybe it depends on who I am talking to… 😉

Now to see how to put links in and how to have categories and and and… I may never have supper.
